Rowan is a socialite staying at The Whitney. She comes back to the hotel after being out with a friend. Unbeknownst to Rowan, she is being stalked by a man. He attacks Rowan in her room, but she's able to defend herself.

In the aftermath of the attack, Rowan realizes she needs help. She calls her friend, and hotel owner, Katja, who contacts a friend to help. Z, a criminal cleaner, finds Rowan in her room, and takes over the scene. He discovers that the man isn't someone random, but the son of a prominent mafia leader. Rowan and Z have to go into hiding until Dex, Katja's boyfriend, can come up with a game plan.

I enjoyed this book better than book one. I liked both Rowan and Z. Rowan is strong, fearless, and not afraid to go for what she wants. Z is thoughtful, kind, and caring. He's used to being in the shadows, taking care of messiness, so he doesn't see himself as worthy. Thank God for Rowan because she refused to let him talk down about himself. They had a sweetness to their relationship that I liked. I just wish we would've had more of them together.

Similar to book one, the pacing is what took the scoring down for me. It started off strong, but then it got off once they were in the woods. I rarely say this, but I think this needed to be a bit longer to build their connection. I don't mind insta lust/insta love if it's done right. It didn’t 100% work here for me.
