I need to admit something that's polarizing. I read the last page of a book before I start it (I know π¬) AND sometimes I skim/spot read a new book because I'm impatient. I never count a book completed until I read every word. When I went to work on this review, I realized I didn't have much highlighted because I only did a spot read when it was released. So I made this book my first read of 2022 and it was perfect π
I loved Vance and Emery. They had a connection from the beginning that grew as they worked together. I enjoyed how they built trust and were open about their feelings. Their partnership was cute and I loved that they consistently referred to the importance of working as a team. Also, they are hot together. The safe scene ππ₯΅
I wasn't sure what to expect with Vance because we only got glimpses of him in the other books. Much like Royce, he surprised me with who he was as a character and I enjoyed him. I found him to be intriguing and I liked getting his perspective on the events that took place in the other books. My favorite thing about him was how much he supported Emery and I just loved how he fell for her π₯°
I love love love Emery. Sophia is my favorite from this series, but I adore Emery as well. Her brain is incredible, I laughed watching her "steal" from Vance, and she was strong in what she wanted. I felt connected to her throughout the story and she reminded me of Marist with how much she cared for Vance.

He’s also going to have a future that includes me—whether he wants it or not.
I don’t care that he’s trying to reform his playboy ways, or that he made a bet to go 90 days without the touch of a woman. I’ve spent the last decade planning my revenge and I need a partner in crime. This gorgeous, cunning man should do fine.
So, we strike a deal. I’ll help get him across the finish line and he’ll bring me into his world among the Cape Hill elite. Our relationship may be fake, but our chemistry is shockingly real. One innocent kiss and I’m struggling to hold up my end of the bargain.
Wanting him wasn’t part of the plan when everything else I desire is within my grasp. The only problem? Neither of us is any good at resisting temptation.
