Royce and Marist had a grip on me from the beginning. I know the popular opinion is Macalister over Royce, but I wholeheartedly disagree. I usually go for the man that's the cold and calculated villain (that says a lot about me π), but I wasn't into Macalister. He didn't become a favorite until The Redemption (his story), which is a testament to Nikki's ability to tell a story.
The reason I love Royce is because he liked Marist for who she was and saw her power. He loved her green hair, her love for mythology, and he didn't force her to change. Yes, changes happened, but that was because of Macalister. Royce is flawed, and he knows it, but I liked that he was working hard to not turn out the way his father expected him to.
This is my lowest rated book in the series, however, I still enjoyed it. It's a dark romance and it won't be for everyone. Nikki writes some great spice (The Blindfold Club series π₯΅) which was a little lacking in this book for me, however, the books get spicier.

Whispers how one woman and nine men disappear into a boardroom.
This time, that woman will be me.
The Hale family owns everything—the eighth largest bank in the world, everyone in our town, even the mortgage on my parents’ mansion. And now Royce Hale wants to own me.
He is charming. Seductive. Ruthless. But above all, he’s the prince of lies. My body may tighten with white-hot desire under his penetrating gaze, but I refuse to enjoy it.
I’ll make a deal with the devil to save my family and sell myself to the Hales. But Royce will never own my heart.
