I read this book about four months ago and I still think about it daily. It was my first time reading a book about a sexy priest and I had no idea what to expect. I became completely enthralled when I was reading it and could not stop talking about it. I now want a hot priest that will give up his vows for me. Toxic? Absolutely. But that doesn't mean I still don't want it πŸ˜‚ My friends love to tease me that I have a thing for priests now. They're not entirely wrong except I have yet to encounter a hot priest.

Tyler Bell, or should I say Father Bell, quickly wormed his way into the #2 spot of my favorite book husbands/boyfriends of all time. He has since been dethroned from that spot by his brother Sean, but we'll talk about Sean's book in a different post. Tyler is still in my top 10. Sierra's characterization of Tyler is so good. She invokes every emotion under the sun through her writing and you truly feel you are the character. Tyler really struggles to grapple with his love for religion and honoring a loved one, while also being completely in love with Poppy. He wants a life with her, but also wants religion in his life. His struggles are a main theme in this book, as well as the spice, and I enjoyed his introspection.

I loved Poppy. I thought she was a great heroine and I loved her relationship with Tyler. She trusted Tyler with so much and earned his trust in return. I know she initiated their conflict, although they are both to blame, but I understood why she did it. She wanted to protect Tyler even if that meant losing him. She pushed her wants out of the way because she understood how much religion meant to him and him wanting to honor his sister. It takes strength to do that and Poppy was full of it.

Sierra Simone is the queen of spice. She has written some of the spiciest stuff I've ever read. I've discovered things about myself that I didn't know before I read some of her scenes. I personally enjoy how she weaves in emotions during sex scenes with her characters. It really amplifies the scene and the spice is extra hot. The wants and desires steam off of the pages. Plus, Sierra writes men that are veryyyyy interested in their partners having a good time, which we love to see. This series does not hold back on the spice and it interweaves religion into the scenes, which is super taboo, and makes it even spicier.

There are many rules a priest can't break. A priest cannot marry. A priest cannot abandon his flock. A priest cannot forsake his God.

I've always been good at following rules.

Until she came. Then I learned new rules.

My name is Tyler Anselm Bell. I'm twenty nine years old. Six months ago, I broke my vow of celibacy on the altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again.

I am a priest and this is my confession.
