Seducing My Guardian is book four in the A Touch of Taboo series by my favorite, Katee Robert, and it's a spicy one! All of the books in this series are standalones and they are each under 150 pages, so they're quick and fun reads. I mentioned this in my review of book one, Your Dad Will Do, that if you're looking for a plot driven book, this might not be the one for you. The spice is the main focus of these books, but Katee does such a good job of hitting you with emotions that make you root for the characters as a couple. This book is no different than the other three and it honestly might have the biggest emotional punch.

Hazel and Devan are perfect together for a couple that barely know each other. Hazel became Devan's ward at sixteen when her parents died on her birthday, but he shipped her off to boarding school right away. They don't see each other for three years until he rescues her on her nineteenth birthday, the one day a year she spins out of control to escape the reminders of her parents death. Hazel does it every year after and Devan always comes to save her. When we meet them in the story, they come together for her twenty fifth birthday and it's the first time Hazel isn't spinning out of control. She tells Devan she wants him, which at first he tries to resist because it's "wrong", but then he gives in to his desires.

Before he agrees to spending the night with her, you can feel their chemistry and tension flying off the pages. The push and pull in the bar was good and sets you up for what their dynamic will be. When they are together, they feed off of each other's energy and want to do everything together. Devan is a great partner for Hazel. He checks in with her throughout their time together to make sure she's physically okay, as well as mentally given the nature of her birthday. He does a great job of feeding off of her energy, but also telling her no when she wants to do things to avoid dealing with her feelings (page 91 has the scene I'm referring to). Devan makes his intentions known, but he doesn't push Hazel and let's her take the space and time she needs. Also, the man has a dirty mouth, and we love that around here 😏

As much as I love Devan, Hazel was my favorite part about this book. I was so connected to her from the beginning. She has a lot of layers between the trauma of her parents being gone, her feelings for Devan, and the unknown of what happens next in her life now that she is no longer Devan's ward. Even though she has a lot going on, she is still fierce and knows what she wants...and sometimes she doesn't know what she wants. I loved that she trusted herself to be open with Devan and vocalized what she wanted to try out with him. I wanted her to let herself trust that what she was feeling was okay, and to trust in Devan with her heart, but I got why she was scared. She just needed time to figure things out. The call back at the end to how she always got Devan to find her was cute, and a bit bratty, which fits Hazel perfectly.

The spice is excellent in this book, which isn't a surprise for this series. If you've read some of my other reviews, you know I LOVE a mirror scene and we get quite a few different mirror scenes in this book 😏 The spice really works in this book because you can feel the sexual tension and compatibility between Hazel and Devan. I liked the role playing, especially the "office" scene that was an adaption because they skipped a birthday. It was hot as hell and you could really feel their connection. Also, can we talk about how hot the tattoos are, yet also super sweet and romantic??? If you've read it, you know exactly what I'm talking about!

This is my fourth Katee Robert review, so you can tell I'm clearly a fan. This series in particular really is a favorite of mine because they're spicy, quick reads, yet have that emotional pull. Katee really worked her magic in this series and it shows. She recently announced a fifth book, Shared by My Neighbors, which is coming out on November 7th, 2022. This one is a completely different premise than the original fifth book she had planned, but it sounds good. I already have it preordered, so I'm sure a review will come from me once it's published!

On the night my parents die, I meet a sexy stranger who tells me he's my new guardian. Before I can as much as blink, he ships me off to boarding school and then ignores me for three years...until he shows up on my nineteenth birthday to save me from myself.

For six years, that's his routine. Show up on my birthday. Save me. Tempt me. And then send me on my way when the chemistry between us sizzles too hot.

That all ends tonight. I'm twenty-five and at midnight I gain control of my trust fund. After this, I never have to see Devan again and he'll no longer drive me wild with his devastating dominance.

This year, all I want for my birthday is twenty-four hours with my guardian. After nine years of taboo desire and built-up lust, I have a lot of unfulfilled fantasies to act out.
