This was my first read by Nikki St. Crowe and what a read it was! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I'm ready for book two to be out. The pacing of the story is done perfectly. I was engaged the entire time and was dying to know what happens next. I loved the Easter eggs we got with Wendy, Tink, and other characters from the original story.

This book is dark and not for the faint of heart. Peter and the Lost Boys are not nice and they don't care about feelings. They are ruthless and God do I love them. I know we're not supposed to have favorites because everyone wins in a reverse harem, and I liked all of the guys, but I was super into Peter Pan. He was sexy, brooding, bossy, and protective of Winnie. I didn't think I was going to like Vane, but he won me over when he stopped something from happening (I don't want to spoil it). I look forward to more of Vane ๐Ÿ˜

I adored Winnie. She didn't let the men break her and wasn't afraid to tell them what she wanted. I loved seeing her test their ability to resist wanting to touch her (yes, I'm toxic like that ๐Ÿ˜‚). I felt bad for her knowing how she grew up being neglected, but also understood her mom's fears and how they manifested. I just know Winnie is going to come into her own even more as we continue the series.

The reason this wasn't a full five stars for me is because I was hoping for a little more spice since it's a reverse harem. I think this is more of a worldbuilding book, so the spice isn't as much of a focal point, which I get. I would like just a little bit more in book two because the twins, Vane, and Pan are so hot. I'm usually a praise girl, but I love some degradation and boy do we have that in this book ๐Ÿฅต

Thank you to Nikki St. Crowe and Peachy Keen for the opportunity to read The Never King in exchange for an honest review!

Description:

The stories were all wrong – Hook was never the villain.

For two centuries, all of the Darling women have disappeared on their 18th birthday. Sometimes they're only gone for a day, some a week or a month. But they always return broken.

Now, on the afternoon of my 18th birthday, my mother is running around the home making sure all the windows are barred and the doors locked.

But it's pointless.

Because when night falls, he comes for me. And this time, the Never King and the Lost Boys aren't willing to let me go.

Note: The Never King is a dark retelling of Peter and Wendy. If you like your enemies to lovers romance with hot, ruthless, morally grey love interests, you'll enjoy The Never King and the Lost Boys. You can expect hate kissing, fighting, bickering, and "touch her and I'll unalive you" vibes.
