Katja and Dex grew up together at The Whitney. Their dads had an agreement that worked for decades until one day Katja ended that contract. She kicked Dex out of the hotel and they went from friends to enemies. Years later, Katja needs Dex's help and has to pay the price for her missteps.
I was excited for this book and had high hopes for it, but I was let down. I didn't care for either of the main characters. I understand why Dex was upset, but I didn't fully buy into how he treated Katja. It just didn't feel like what happened warranted how he treated her. The pacing felt off at times and their relationship was all over the place. This is one of those rare times that I think a book would've benefited from being longer. The plot was extremely predictable and I just wasn't feeling this book at all.
