This was my first book by Lena Hendrix. I have some bookstagram friends who love her books, so I was excited to read this book. I'm still not 100% sure how I feel about this book. The beginning was a bit confusing and there was a lot of information shared, but also a lot of vagueness? It felt like I had to read her previous release to understand the story, but I think they're both technically standalones, so that was confusing.

Once the story went on, I started to enjoy the romance. The tension was good and I was just waiting for them to finally be together. I wish we would've just had more to the story.

The spice scenes were pretty good. One of my favorite things to read about is DVP. Add a man in who isn't afraid to use a toy and you've got a REALLY good scene πŸ₯΅

I did love the epilogue and the bonus one. It was so cute to see them grow together. Parker is obsessed with Sienna, which I love to see. I hope Gemma and Scott get a story soon!

Thank you to Lena and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for the ARC!

The moment I kissed my wife, I knew I was in trouble.

A stoic, dangerous man with ties to the Mafia has no business keeping a gorgeous ray of sunshine like her, but she was scared and I was desperate.

On the run, we land at a secluded ranch designed to protect federal witnesses. As long as everyone believes we’re married, she won’t have to testify against me for killing the man who put his hands on her.

But the longer we pretend, the lines between fact and fiction begin to blur. My eyes linger a second too long. My hands soften on her skin. My kiss, a little too demanding.

Before I can help it, our pretending extends behind closed doors and our relationship begins to feel very, very real.

My plan is to hide out until I know she’s safe. Set her up for life and disappear, but I’m drawn to the way she breathes life into me without even trying. A better man would walk away.

But I never claimed to be a better man.
